Specialist Private Tuition

for children with dyslexia or other barriers to literacy

How private tuition can help.

Each child is unique

I tailor lessons to meet your child’s individual needs. I will help them to discover tools and techniques which suit them and that they can use in school.

When children experience success their self-esteem grows, helping them to realise their potential - in school and beyond.

How it Works

Before you start

Private tuition works best when it is designed around a profile of your child’s strengths and weaknesses. If your child has a formal diagnosis, I can use their diagnostic report to understand their difficulties. If your child does not have a diagnosis, I can informally assess their strengths and weaknesses by using a range of activities to evaluate their phonological awareness, phonics, memory, word reading skills and spelling.

Tuition activities and costs

  • Initial phone consultation  Free

We can discuss your aims and expectations of the tuition and how we might work together.

  • Informal assessment £45.00

Using a range of activities, I will assess your child’s:

  • Phonological awareness (their ability to hear and manipulate sounds in words).

  • Phonics (their ability to map the sounds they hear to the corresponding letters).

  • Memory (working memory and auditory memory)

  • Word reading skills

  • Spelling

  • Weekly sessions, conducted 1-to-1 with your child face to face or online

(I can offer this at my learning space or at your child’s school. Price includes preparation & resources)

  • 40 minute sessions for younger children £35.00

  • 55 minute sessions for older children £40.00

  • Progress reviews Free

I will review your child’s progress each term against the longer term objectives. We can meet to discuss this progress at the end of each term.

“The programme solved so much for her. After years of struggling with spelling and feeling ashamed that she couldn’t retain them in a classroom setting, a whole new world has opened up for her.“
